Somewhere on the mountain at almost every ski resort in the world are posted the 7 skier and snowboarder "responsibility codes".  These are reminders to be a safe and considerate skier and snowboarder.  You should memorize the responsibility codes and incorporate them into your everyday ski and snowboard routine.

Responsibility Codes
1.   Be under control in such a manner you can stop or avoid other people and objects.

2.   When going downhill, and/or overtaking another skier/snowboarder, you must avoid the skier/snowboarder below you.

3.   Never stop where you obstruct a trail or where you are not visible from above.

4.   When entering a trail or starting downhill, yield to other skiers/snowboarders.

5.   Wear ski/snowboard retention straps or brake devices to prevent runaway equipment.

6.   Observe all posted signs.  Keep away from closed trails and other closed areas.

7.   Know how to get on and off the chair lift or ask the lift operator for help.
